MyState Bank has hired the CEO of RateOne and former NAB head of broker Vic/Tas as its new head of home lending distribution.
MyState Bank has appointed lending executive Blake Albones to the role of head of home lending distribution, effective 9 August.
Mr Albones was most recently the CEO of RateOne Financial Services, where he led the lending strategy and operations of the broking group.
Prior to this role, which he started in December 2020, Mr Albones had worked extensively across the NAB Group.
He served as head of NAB Broker in Victoria and Tasmania between 2014-2020, overseeing the distribution of broker products and managing business development. He also held several leadership positions at Advantedge Financial Services, including as head of broker sales and national lending manager, and was a senior BDM with PLAN Australia for seven years before that.
His appointment is the latest in a series of senior hires made by MyState Bank to support its continued expansion of the broker channel across Australia.
In his new role, the new head of home lending distribution will be responsible for the leadership, operations and customer service of MyState Bank’s mortgage broker network and home lending portfolio.
A key focus for Mr Albones in his new role will be loan approval turnaround times and expanding the bank’s national footprint.
He will work closely with MyState’s new general manager of banking, Huw Bough, to “maximise the value created through the broker and home lending portfolio, while working to maintain the customer experience”.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr Bough said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Blake to the MyState team. He has enormous experience and an outstanding track record of achievement in our sector, which will be a great asset to MyState Bank as we broaden our reach to mortgage brokers nationally.
“His focus will be on maintaining and strengthening MyState Bank’s excellent broker service proposition, including our market-leading loan approval turnarounds times.
Mr Albones said: “My vision for MyState is to be recognised in Australia as the brokers’ bank. Coming into the role, I was impressed by MyState’s ambitious and audacious growth plans.
“This is a very exciting time for MyState Bank, and I am looking forward to playing my part in the next stage of growth of the brand.”
