Sharing the many stories of success throughout LMG has proven effective in lifting the productivity and performance of all brokers across the Group.

Whether it’s how top performers schedule their days, scale up with quality hires, service referral partners or use tools to stay compliant and optimise their marketing, LMG proudly supports its many top performers.

In turn, their peers are gaining valuable insights into what sets the top performers apart and transfer the lessons learned to their own businesses.

Here are just some of the success stories that showcase what can be achieved when you partner with Australasia’s biggest broker community.

Balpreet Bal

This year, perth-based mortgage broker Balpreet Bal was named Loan Market’s Number One broker.

As part of his brokerage’s lead generation strategy, he’s taken advantage of Loan Market’s Social Post service, which includes posting to their Google Business Profile weekly and 2-3 posts each week to Instagram and Facebook.

Balpreet also utilised Loan Market’s in-house video production service, with one of his videos reaching an online audience of over 370,000.

His marketing endeavours helped him settle nine loans per week, on average, over FY23.

His relaunched website and Loan Market’s marketing tools have helped Balpreet fill his pipeline with future clients while he remains focused on providing brilliant service to new and settled clients.

His success has been heavily influenced by his commitment to customer service and community engagement, especially amongst WA’s expat Indian community.

“Ninety-six to ninety-seven percent of our clients are referred to us from existing clients,” he said. “I'm a big believer that if you look after your existing clients, if you roll out a red carpet, they’ll definitely recommend family and friends to you. We have many repeat clients - people who have done business with us 8-10 years ago, and they’re still coming back to us.”

Sarah Thomson

At the start of 2023, the Managing Director of Loan Market Geelong introduced five new brokers to her office - the biggest restructure in her business’ history.

Central to onboarding the new additions was strengthening processes and capacity within her customer service team to support the new brokers.

As part of the recruitment drive for new support staff, Loan Market Geelong engaged the aggregator’s TalentForce team and social media advertising service to find interested prospects through social media.

“We had about 125,000 views on Facebook, which was huge. The enquiry off the back of that has been overwhelming.

“We have a few people in Loan Market’s recruitment team as well that have really looked after us and helped build our team from there.”

Thomson said she loved the fact that new brokers can plug into the systems and her support team and have the trust in them to hand over a deal. Over FY23, the brokerage lodged just shy of 900 loans.

“Brokers can still call and touch base along the way, but the CSMs and the settlement staff will actually drive the process, following up with clients and keeping the relationship really strong throughout the whole process. Our brokers can be hands off if they like and concentrate their efforts on other things, or maybe just have more of a lifestyle at the same time.”

Steve Toome

Steve Toome joined LMG as a Partner business two years ago. He opened Port Lincoln Home Loans after more than a decade in banking.

His transition has been hugely successful, culminating in winning the New Broker of the Year title at the South Australian Better Business Awards this year.

Mr Toome said it was critical to have a brains trust spanning corporate and personal support when making the transition. He went and sat with brokers to understand their client service offering and leaned on LMG for support in tech, compliance, marketing and personalised business coaching.

“I looked at a lot of different aggregator models, and I came to LMG for their Partner service plan for a reason: because that support was proven from broker, after broker, after broker,” he said.

Customers knew he was great when at the bank, but now he was working with a panel of over 60 lenders.

One aspect of LMG’s offering that has helped propel Mr Toome’s business growth was access to asset finance and commercial lending specialists and tools.

“We’ve done a luxury Riviera motor yacht, business lending and commercial. The complexity of peoples’ needs has blown our minds. And as soon as you've helped someone with something else, they'll tell someone else.

“The referral piece in this game is absolutely incredible.”
