by Reporter5 minute read

Australia’s “first pure asset finance conference” launched last week, with more than 200 delegates in attendance.

Brokers from the Platform Consolidated Group (PCG), Consolidated Operations Group (COG) and Consolidated Finance Group (CFG) attended the inaugural PFG Asset Finance Brokers conference, hosted by PCG on the Gold Coast last weekend (24-25 August).

Held at the Palazzo Versace, the two-day conference also included trade show sessions at the Seaworld Resort Conference Centre.

Twenty-three exhibitors attended the event, which is thought to be the largest conference specifically focused on asset finance in Australia.

The conference, sponsored by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Westpac, aimed to highlight advancements and confront challenges in the asset finance industry, and provide brokers with business strategy tips, digital marketing plans and details on advancements in software, financier integration and succession planning.

Speakers at the event included the executive chairman for family advisory at PwC, David Smorgon OAM, marketing specialist Sue-Ella Prodonovich, Colin Ward from financial advice firm Tempus Wealth, and Brad Higgs and Steve Di Leo from accounting firm Titan Partners.

Mike Nicholls, CEO of PCG, commented: “It was an industry-first, there has never been a pure asset finance conference and it was absolutely fantastic.

“The support we got from the funders was just unbelievable and the sponsors were elated that it was an asset finance-only conference – in that that’s all that they were talking about and to people who understand the industry, do numerous transactions etc.

“So, it was quite different from attending a mortgage aggregator as a sideline person. This was pure asset finance and it was absolutely enormous.”

PCG is thought to be Australia’s largest asset finance provider, having funded more than $3 billion worth of loans.
