SME lender brings in national BDM

Secured business lender Speedy Finance has appointed Tanya Pead as its national business development manager to help build its presence in the third-party channel.

Speedy Finance has welcomed its first national business development manager (BDM) to the team.

Former Bluestone BDM Tanya Pead has joined Speedy Finance at its Gold Coast head office.

Ms Pead has worked in the financial services industry since 2003, starting at GE Money in the branch network before moving into the mortgages and third-party space.

Over her career, she has worked in credit management for two broking offices, worked as a loan assessor for a mortgage manager, and been a credit manager for a private funder. 

More recently, she worked as a BDM for Bluestone in Queensland and was previously a national relationship manager at Australian First Mortgage.

Speedy Finance’s general manager, Clement Dube, said that he was “very pleased” to welcome Ms Pead onboard in what is an exciting time for the company”.

While the boutique lender has been in operation for over 15 years, it recently made the decision to specialise in secured business lending and secured interest-only finance (business bridging).

It is also currently offering a line of credit facility to approved businesses under the government-backed Coronavirus SME Guarantee Scheme.

The lender said it would be utilising its national BDM’s experience in the broker market to help Speedy grow its presence in the third-party space.

Mr Dube continued: “[Tanya’s] leadership skills and wealth of knowledge are a great fit for our small business.”

Speaking of her new role, Ms Pead told The Adviser that she was excited to be taking on this role and being able to offer SME lending as a solution to the third-party network”, adding that she had “always had a passion for finding solutions and working closely with brokers to assist them in the needs of their borrowers”.

She continued: “I have been brought on board to engage the broker network, something that I have extensive experience in.

“Over the years, I have built very strong relationships with multiple brokers across the nation, and I am so excited to bring the Speedy brand and products to not only my network but across the whole third-party space.”

Ms Pead said that she hoped she would be able to offer experienced SME finance brokers “another option and a fantastic service proposition” while helping brokers who have not dealt in this space “easily transition into SME lending”.
