2 new categories for Australian Broking Awards announced

In recognition of the importance of nurturing new talent in the broking industry, two new awards have been created for the 2018 Australian Broking Awards.

Now in its eighth year, the Australian Broking Awards — partnered by the Commonwealth Bank — focuses solely on the leading brokers, brokerages and aggregation groups across the entire Australian mortgage industry.

The Adviser recognises the importance of acknowledging and encouraging new brokers as well as those who are more established.

With this in mind, this year, the awards will include two new categories: Rising Star and Mentor of the Year.

The Rising Star Award will recognise tomorrow’s leader — the professional who will play an integral role in the development of broking in the years ahead.

Open to any broking industry professional who has worked as a full-time operator for no longer than five years (on or as of 1 January 2013), the award recognises those with an entrepreneurial drive, thought leaders and those new brokers who are going above and beyond to make a difference in the broking sector.

The Mentor of the Year Award recognises those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support, guide and promote the training and career development of their mentees.

Open to anyone who has been a mentor over the 2017 calendar year, the Mentor of the Year will be able to demonstrate their commitment to the employee’s professional development and cultural integration, demonstrating leadership and advocating for the future leaders in the broking industry.

Submissions for the Australian Broking Awards are now open, so make sure that you get your entries in before the closing date on Friday, 27 April.

Finalists will be announced in May and the winners will be revealed at the awards luncheon at The Star, Sydney, on Friday, 29 June.
