Nominations open for 2016 Better Business Awards

by Reporter8 minute read

The process to find the leading brokers in each state has begun, with nominations now open for the 2016 Better Business Awards.

The Better Business Awards form part of the award-winning Better Business Summit, crowned Event of the Year at both the 2015 and 2014 Publish Awards (previously the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards). It has also been nominated as a finalist in the prestigious Australian Magazine Awards, where it will compete with the TV Week Logie Awards for top honours next month.

Now in its third year, the state-based awards, which are an initiative of The Adviser and principal partner NAB Broker, recognise each state’s leading businesses, teams, marketing strategies and integrated offerings.

Awards are also on offer for the lender and aggregator BDMs that are best servicing the evolving needs of brokers. Click here to enter.

In last year’s Better Business Awards, which occurred over February and March, 399 finalists were selected from the raft of nominations submitted, and 78 winning awards were given out.

The much sought-after Broker of the Year gongs were claimed by a mix of experienced brokers and young guns: Mark Davis in Victoria (for the second year), Tom Caesarowicz in South Australia, Eric Cui in New South Wales, Tony Fornaro in Queensland and Brendon Marshman in Western Australia.

Jim Hall, head of mortgages and real estate at Sterling Publishing – publisher of The Adviser – said he expected an even greater level of interest in nominations for the 2016 Better Business Awards than at last year, given the extent of the positive feedback received.

“We know that the key to successful broking is building up a local presence. The Better Business Awards provides a unique opportunity to do just this as it celebrates the top performers in each state, as well as those making a genuine difference in their local market,” he said.

“Brokers who qualify as finalists will gain immense additional marketing collateral to build, or further enhance, their reputations with both clients and referral partners in their immediate catchment areas."

As in previous years, the judging process includes an online submission that covers key business indicators and askes a series of open-ended questions across a range of business topics.

Finalists will then be selected, with the winners to be announced at the state awards dinners in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth between 18 February and 17 March.

Nominations close on Friday 30 October 2015. Click here to enter, or click here to find more information on the categories and awards process.
