Aussie sees record rise in female brokers

by Huntley Mitchell8 minute read

Aussie Home Loans says it witnessed a record level of female brokers recruited to its retail channel during the last financial year.

According to the broking group, 38 per cent of new Aussie brokers and franchisees in 2014-15 were women.

New South Wales and Queensland led the surge, with women making up 44 per cent and 45 per cent of new retail recruits respectively.

Aussie said it also experienced an increase in new female mobile brokers, with the total percentage up from 27 per cent in 2013-14 to 29 per cent 2014-15.

James Symond, chief executive of Aussie, said recruiting more women is a trend the group is determined to continue.

“When I speak to our brokers about what they love most about their business, our female brokers are far more likely to talk about making a difference in people’s lives and making dreams come true – looking after their customers with an emotional connection,” he said.

Catherine Dodd, co-franchisee of Aussie Neutral Bay in Sydney and a member of the group’s exclusive Chairman’s Club which recognises the top five per cent of Aussie’s loan writers, said broking is a fantastic career path that offers diversity, flexibility and the opportunity to earn a great income.

“I love the challenge of running my own business and building on my results each year. Every day is different, and there is so much more to being a broker than just fronting up and quoting the lowest interest rate,” she said.
