Claims to repossess homes in Queensland jumped to a all time high in April, a new report has revealed.

According to the Queensland Justice Department, lenders lodged 176 claims to repossess homes or businesses in the state’s court in April – the highest monthly total since records begin in 1992.

Queensland Council of Social Service president Karyn Walsh said the spike in repossession claims, despite the rates falls, was a worrying consequence of rising unemployment, the Courier Mail reported today.
