Highlighting its commitment to the Australian public, ANZ has announced its plans to provide more than $1 million to Queensland flood relief.
According to a statement released by the lender, ANZ will provide a $500,000 donation to the Premier’s Relief Appeal and $500,000 to long-term recovery programs.
In addition, the bank will also waive any fees that impacted customers may face when restructuring their finances.
Similarly, ANZ has said it will also suspend any home and business loan repayments for up to three months.
ANZ’s Australian chief executive officer Philip Chronican said the bank’s donations would offer some relief to those impacted by the floods.
“We understand the impact that disasters like this have and we want our customers to know that we will stand beside them as the clean up begins. We will also continue to monitor the crisis and review our response if the situation worsens,” Mr Chronican said.
The bank’s charitable donations follows a similar pledge made by Westpac Banking Group last week.
