Building strong relationships is our priority

In this Q&A, head of sales Danny Tuttlebee explains how Resimac Asset Finance has the same focus on building strong relationships and offering best-in-class support that has made its parent company a trusted name in home loans.

What kinds of loans do you finance?
Resimac Asset Finance specialises in providing lending solutions to SME clients that need equipment for their business. The types of assets we fund typically fall into four categories: motor vehicle, primary, secondary, and tertiary assets. Most of the loans we finance are for motor cars, trucks, trailers, earthmoving equipment, and similar loans.

We are also working on bringing new products to market in the next few months, namely, consumer asset finance and short-term business loans with mortgage-backed security. Watch this space!

What support does Resimac Asset Finance offer brokers?
We offer support to brokers in many ways, but the key is the relationship with our sales team. Our BDMs support brokers by providing training, working through scenarios, and pointing brokers in the right direction if the application falls outside our criteria.

In addition, we have been developing software to assist brokers with loan input and speedy assessments. This will help brokers manage the flow of a deal more efficiently. We hope to have some news on this early in the new financial year!

How can doing business with Resimac Asset Finance benefit my business?
The team at Resimac Asset Finance strives to provide clear communication that explains ‘why’ to brokers. Our aim is to help those new to asset finance learn as they go — not just about Resimac Asset Finance policy but also market views on credit assessment within the asset finance industry as a whole.

While our core business has been around for more than 20 years, we have been trading under the Resimac Asset Finance name for a little over two years now. Our team knows what it’s like to learn as you grow. We like to think we can give back to brokers by providing advice from our own experiences.

What have you learned about relationships in your career that you have passed on to your team?
I’ve learnt that the best relationships are the ones you build with a long-term lens. As a business, we’re not here to sell one broker a loan and then move on to the next broker. We are here to build lasting relationships with brokers who come to know us and trust us. That can only be done with honesty, integrity, and consistency — ‘playing with a straight bat’, as the old cricketing saying goes.

Our team is here to help in any way we can. This doesn’t mean you will receive your preferred answer every time, but it does mean you will receive a quick and honest one. Our team lives by the adage: “a quick no is a good no”. We want to help you have a clear understanding of Resimac Asset Finance’s credit appetite so your applications run smoothly.
