ING DIRECT has launched an aggressive new marketing campaign in a bid to drive more business to the bank.

The bank’s long running face of the bank, Billy Connolly, has been replaced by a human-like Orang-utan named Charles.

ING DIRECT’s head of branding and communications Christian Bohlke said Charles’ role will be to show there is better way to bank.

"Billy has been essential in building ING DIRECT to become a household brand, through Charles - who will be a customer of ING DIRECT - we will be able to get more specific about our offers and build on the full range of products and services we have to offer,” Mr Bohlke said.
