Specialist lender RedZed sponsors Melbourne Storm

RedZed Lending Solutions has become the major partner of the Melbourne Storm rugby team, as the non-bank lender aims to raise awareness of its broker network and loan offerings for self-employed borrowers to a wider audience.

At the club’s recent Family Day in Melbourne’s Federation Square, the Storm team unveiled the new team kit which features RedZed’s logo and will be used for the team’s home, away and training jerseys for the next two seasons.

RedZed’s managing director, Evan Dwyer said that the company was “absolutely delighted to partner with the Melbourne Storm” (Storm), noting the team’s “huge, engaged fan base” and the opportunity to showcase the RedZed brand to the team’s fans and National Rugby League (NRL) viewers.

“We will be able to present our brand to millions more people through the Storm’s social and TV audiences across the whole of the east coast,” Mr Dwyer said.

“Now more than ever, the more than two million self-employed Australians across the country need to be supported, and it’s our passion to drive this.

“The Melbourne Storm, with its strong appeal and ambitions as a club and community, [provides] the perfect platform to help us continue to inspire and support Australia’s self-employed community.”

The non-bank MD went on to draw similarities between the two partners, noting that “RedZed started as a small business in 2006 in a very challenging and competitive market, much like Storm did when it first played in the NRL some 22 years ago”.

“We have assisted over 6,000 self-employed Australians to achieve their business ambitions by funding in excess of $3 billion in home and commercial loans. RedZed is passionate about doing more to partner with, and enable, self-employed Australians to achieve business success,” he said.

The partnership between RedZed and Storm will reportedly extend to off-field activities too, with knowledge sharing opportunities for RedZed’s mortgage broker network across the country. This could potentially include leadership sharing initiatives and opportunities for brokers to “learn from a world class organisation as well as providing opportunities for high profile corporate engagements and other opportunities for RedZed”.

“We are excited to be growing our business and entering into a new era and we are thrilled about the opportunities this partnership with Storm offers RedZed and our brokers,” Mr Dwyer continued.

Storm’s chief executive officer, Dave Donaghy, added that the club was “very excited to welcome RedZed to the Storm family”, stating that the club had spoken with a number of interested organisations over the off-season but was particularly pleased that “both RedZed and Storm hold similar values in that we are always striving to be the best we can and have a strong commitment to our loyal fans and the Victorian community”.

“We were also thrilled to have a Victorian-based company – in RedZed – choose Storm as their first sporting partner in what is becoming a more challenging commercial market,” Mr Donaghy said.

The Storm CEO concluded: There is genuine excitement in the club heading into the 2020 season. We have a group of new emerging leaders on the field, supporting [captain] Cameron [Smith] and his senior leadership team, and being able to announce RedZed as our major partner marks a new era for the Storm.

BMM launches annual tipping competition

As the 2020 NRL season begins, so too does the annual industry tipping competitions.

Better Mortgage Management (BMM) has launched its 2020 BMM NRL Tipping Competition for brokers, offering over $1500 in cash prizes this year, with a $750 1st prize. The remaining prize money will cover the second and third places, as well as the tipster in 21st place (in celebration of BMM's 21st anniversary), the person in the middle of the ladder and the tipster with the longest streak.

The Queensland-based mortgage lender has also launched its annual BMM AFL Tipping Competition for brokers, offering up to $750 of prizes.

Both competitions start on 19 March.
