Yellow Brick Road Home Loans has unveiled a new AI system designed to substantially reshape everyday broker workflows.
Yellow Brick Road Home Loans has rolled out Nectaria, an in-house-built multi-agent artificial intelligence (AI) platform intended to support its franchise and aggregation network across the entire customer journey.
Launched at the major brokerage and aggregator’s Next Level conference on the Gold Coast, the platform has been developed using YBR’s proprietary data and is designed to reduce administrative work, accelerate customer settlements, and improve franchise performance.
Nectaria comprises a suite of AI agents that can record customer calls, populate client profiles, identify missing information, create follow-up actions, search lender policy, and provide coaching and compliance feedback.
YBR founder and chairman Mark Bouris said the group had built Nectaria in response to the growing need for broking businesses to embrace artificial intelligence.
“We can’t ignore AI, we need to embrace it and that’s what we’ve done and we need to use it in a way that’s smarter, more cost effective than any of our competitors,” Bouris said.
“So this year, I set my team a challenge. That challenge was to build an AI system that will be a game changer for our brokers. My brief for Nectaria was to give brokers more time to write deals, give our franchises the insights that would show them how to grow their business, and to train and empower new brokers.”
The YBR chairman said the platform had been designed to respond to more difficult customer questions and lending scenarios.
“I asked Nectaria to help brokers find solutions to the most challenging scenarios and questions customers have, so we taught Nectaria, or it learnt on our stuff,” Bouris said.
“Every time a Yellow Brick Road broker speaks to a customer, they now have a suite of AI agents alongside them to support from the initial conversation through to settlement and beyond.
“I wanted something that cuts down the time you spend on admin and increases the time you spend with your customers.”
Calls, policy, and coaching
Nectaria’s core functions centre on converting customer interactions into usable workflow information.
The platform can record client calls and map information from those conversations to the relevant client profile, while also prompting brokers to collect outstanding details and generate follow-up tasks.
YBR chief digital and marketing officer Kevin Mangano said the product had been developed around practical frustrations identified in its network.
“We know the industry is embracing AI, so we wanted to go beyond the standard features. We started with common pain points for our brokers and looked to build solutions that didn’t yet exist. That led to our customer interview feature,” Mangano said.
“The other requirement was how we act in the best interests of borrowers. That’s baked into every part of Nectaria, including specific compliance features and personalised feedback and coaching to brokers after each customer interaction.”
He said YBR had subjected the platform to critical testing by members of its network before the broader launch.
“We’ve also challenged brokers who’ve tested the software to break it and be as critical as possible. That’s meant we’ve been able to quickly adapt Nectaria to provide real value to our network,” Mangano said.
“The feedback we’ve received from our network has highlighted just how powerful Nectaria is in training the next generation of brokers understand even the most complex of lending scenarios.
“Brokers have also said just how quick Nectaria is in building and updating customer profiles in a way that integrates with the rest of our software, as well as homing in on best-fit products for buyers, investors and refinancers.”
Business coach to follow
The next stage of the Nectaria rollout is expected in October, when YBR plans to introduce a business coach function designed to examine pipeline activity and identify growth opportunities.
Bouris said the feature would extend the platform from transaction and customer-interview support into broader business planning and performance management.
“I wanted to go further, to focus on growing your business, diving into your pipeline and aligning it with your business ambitions which is about growth, highlighting opportunities for growth and to help you plan and achieve success,” Bouris said.
“Our business coach does that. It supports those of you who are still new to this industry, by the way, is meant to help you in particular, but it takes experience brokers to the next level. This is the future of Yellow Brick Road.”
The launch comes as aggregators and major broker brands significantly expand their own AI programs.
Connective, for example, has outlined the next phase of its Mercury Nexus roadmap, which focuses on workflow automation, client follow-ups, scheduling support, proactive alerts, and creating a more complete view of customer relationships.
The aggregator has said its client portal has been adopted by more than 1,400 brokerages, with more than 3,500 users handling 27,000 client results and saving an estimated hour of administration per deal.
Mortgage Choice is also developing internally built AI tools and agents, with CEO Anthony Waldron recently revealing that the group now had 13 AI-native platforms and tools aimed at streamlining high-effort and repetitive work.
These include AI Gems for marketing and lead generation, customer engagement and communications, and application and policy searches.
Meanwhile, Aussie Home Loans owner Lendi Group is pursuing an AI-first operating model.
Chief operating officer Sebastian Watkins has said the group is redesigning workflows and customer interactions around agentic AI, with AI agents set to assist across email responses, administration, and marketing activity.
