Submissions open for Australian Broking Awards 2023

by Malavika Santhebennur11 minute read

Nominations and submissions have opened for this year’s Australian Broking Awards, run with the support of principal partner NAB.

Now in its 13th year, the Australian Broking Awards will be held as a cocktail luncheon on Friday, 11 August 2023 at The Star in Sydney.

Submissions and nominations are now open for those wishing to gain national recognition, with applications accepted until Thursday, 25 May 2023.

Following on from The Adviser’s state-based awards, the national awards recognise the leading lights of the mortgage and finance broking industry — including individuals, brokerages, and aggregation groups — right across the country.

It comes after a busy period for the broking industry, as the channel has gone above and beyond to help clients navigate the first rate-rising cycle for over a decade and increased mortgage stress.

There are 29 individual and group categories on offer this year, covering individual brokers, support staff, mentors, aggregators, and mortgage industry leaders.

Individual categories include Asset Finance Broker of the Year, Industry Thought Leader of the Year, and Residential Broker of the Year.

Group categories include Boutique Aggregator of the Year, Diversified Brokerage of the Year, and Major Independent Brokerage of the Year.

The highest-scoring individual winner will walk away with the coveted Broker of the Year award. Last year, this award was given to Loan Market Rheuben & Associates senior finance broker and winner of the Commercial Broker of the Year award, Grant Rheuben.

The Australian Broking Awards 2023 showcases the depth of talent of individuals and businesses in the mortgage and finance industry while affirming the sector’s essential role in supporting Australian borrowers.

With the third-party channel now the main choice for Australian borrowers, winning an award can distinguish broking businesses from their competition and underpin career advancement for individual winners.

Judged by a well-respected panel, the awards provide peer-reviewed recognition of the capabilities and successes of groups and individuals and their passion for propelling the industry to new heights.

The awards ceremony is also an opportunity for the industry to network with friends, colleagues, and industry leaders.

Annie Kane, editor of The Adviser, commented: “As the current economic environment throws new challenges at borrowers, there has never been a more important time to recognise the broking industry for its hard work and dedication to serving in their clients’ best interests.

“The Adviser, in partnership with NAB, is proud to be able to champion the hard work of the broker channel in helping borrowers navigate a changing economic environment and better prepare them for the future.”
