The REA Group-owned broking branch has announced a new campaign, which is aimed at encouraging more women to join the broking industry.
Following on from International Women’s Day earlier this month, REA Group’s Smartline Personal Mortgage Advisers has launched a new campaign, which aims to encourage more women to enter into the broking industry.
The “Future Female Brokers” campaign consists of a 12-month program for women who sign up as new Smartline franchisees, and will provide support for the growth and development of their business.
As a part of the campaign, Smartline will also host “Build Your Own Business” events all over the country, showcasing guest speakers and experienced female brokers.
In addition to the 12-month Future Female Brokers program, Smartline has announced that new franchisees who sign on with Smartline ahead of 30 June will receive an extra $5,000 value.
The incentive package reportedly includes digital advertising on Smartline’s social media platforms, access to a mentoring program with a female coach, plus LinkedIn profile advice or a ticket to The Adviser’s Women in Finance Awards, which Smartline will be sponsoring.
Smartline CEO Sam Boer stated that the company is “on a mission” to increase the number of women in the broking industry, and support the women who already work within the company’s network.
“Learning that women only make up about 30 per cent of the mortgage broking industry was a disappointing stat to hear and we knew we wanted to make an impact,” Mr Boer said.
“I’m hopeful our campaign will draw attention to the great career opportunities that the mortgage broking industry has on offer to both those new to the industry and those already working in finance.
“We’re also offering more support to women within our existing network and encouraging them to step up as leaders in our mentoring program.
“Smartline is committed to supporting both women and men in working towards building their successful mortgage broking businesses.
Smartline adviser Deb Smith stated she is supportive of the new campaign and emphasises the important qualities that women can bring to the profession.
“Balance is important in any profession, and I feel as though we need a better balance in the mortgage broking industry,” Ms Smith said.
“Female brokers bring a nurturing and relationship-driven approach to the table and I hope the new campaign encourages more women to join.”
