Former CBA area manager joins major brokerage

Aussie Home Loans has announced the appointment of a new state manager to head its network of retail stores and brokers in South Australia and Northern Territory.

The former Commonwealth Bank area manager for retail banking and executive state manager for third-party banking in SA/NT, Corey Drew, has been given responsibility for supporting and growing Aussie’s SA and NT networks.

With 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Mr Drew will now be responsible for 12 Aussie retail stores and over 70 mortgage brokers.

Mr Drew replaces Aaron Hockey, who was last year appointed as Aussie’s SA/NT state manager and who has since moved into the role of Aussie NSW/ACT state manager.

In his new role, Mr Drew will report to Aussie’s general manager, distribution, Brad Cramb.

“I am delighted to be joining Australia’s leading mortgage broker and working in a market where I have spent the majority of my career,” Mr Drew said.

“Aussie’s brand is well liked in the region and we have a very strong platform to build on in order to expand our footprint and strengthen our offering to benefit borrowers and mortgage brokers across SA and NT,” he added.

Aussie’s chief executive officer, James Symond, said the appointment comes as Aussie moves to double its customer base in the region over the next three years – and follows on from the announcement that the brokerage had brought SA lender HomeStart onto its panel.

Speaking of the new appointment, Mr Symond commented: “Corey is a well-known figure in the mortgage sector who has significant experience leading a large distribution network and a strong understanding of the local SA and NT markets.”

He added: “He understands how to implement innovative customer-focused strategies to deliver results and will be a great asset to both our sales leadership team and our South Australian and Northern Territory franchisees and brokers.”

Mr Drew previously held roles at ANZ in Victoria and the Northern Territory, as state manager at Bankwest in Sydney, and various senior leadership roles such as managing director of Mortgage Force (now Smartline) in South Australia and Perth.
