Suncorp Bank’s Small Business Masterclass series returns in 2017 following last year’s booked-out events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
More than 1,000 brokers have now taken part in the series, hosted by banking and finance executive Stuart Donaldson.
The Masterclass series is designed provide brokers with key insights into managing the financial needs of SMEs and the opportunities available across the small business lending sector.
Suncorp national manager for small business and commercial, Robynne Frost, said the interactive workshops support Suncorp’s broker partners to diversify into small business lending.
“The aim of our Small Business Masterclass series is to provide brokers with an understanding of some of the challenges small business owners are facing, and support them with the tools, resources and education they need to meet their needs,” Ms Frost said.
“When you consider approximately 30 per cent of our home loan customers are self-employed, there is an enormous opportunity for brokers to start looking after their existing customers’ small business lending requirements.
“Australia is home to more than 2 million small businesses, accounting for 96 per cent of the country’s business sector, yet only 8 per cent use brokers for their lending.
“If brokers can provide expert advice, innovative products, easy onboarding and speedy execution, the opportunities are endless.”
The three-hour workshops also provide information to help brokers assess the financial strengths and weaknesses of a business, identify opportunities to improve management efficiency and financing strategies to help them engage in meaningful financial conversations relevant to business-owner clients.
“We’re serious about helping our broker partners diversify their business and committed to investing in educational programs like this so they can deliver even greater propositions to customers,” Ms Frost said.
