Former Westpac banking manager joins AFG

AFG has welcomed a former Westpac business banking manager to its Sydney team as a business relationship manager of its lending arm.

The lending arm of the aggregation group, AFG Home Loans, last year assumed the sales functionality of the AFG Commercial product, which is funded by ThinkTank.

As such, the group has been expanding the support available to help AFG brokers write AFG Home Loans and AFG Commercial Loans.

The latest addition to the team is former Westpac business banking manager Karlee Butcher, who will now provide support regarding the group’s residential and commercial products to over 300 brokers in the greater Sydney area.

AFG noted that as more brokers had looked to diversify into business lending, the group had looked to expand the support available on commercial products.

AFG’s national sales manager, Hayden Cush, commented: “The AFG Commercial products, powered by Thinktank, look and feel like a residential lending product, and the AFG Business platform does the heavy lifting for those brokers who are new to commercial deals.

“It made sense to move this sales function over to the team that would have day-to-day interactions with AFG brokers, supporting them as they help their clients.

“We went from having one BDM on the ground specialising in AFG Commercial, to 10 BDMs and four support staff able to assist our brokers,” he said.

Speaking of her new role, Ms Butcher said: “I am working my way through a plan to meet all of my new broker partners in my first 60 days and look forward to finding out how I can help and establishing relationships with them and their teams.

“I’m most excited to represent AFG Home and Commercial Loans in supporting each of our broker partners with a range of offerings and solutions for their clients,” she concluded.
