Clive Kirkpatrick becomes managing director of new aggregator

8 minute read

The new aggregation group has appointed its first managing director as it ramps up for its official launch into residential and commercial aggregation.

Viking Aggregation – part of the Nationwise Group – has announced that it has welcomed industry stalwart Clive Kirkpatrick to the team as managing director of Viking Aggregation, overseeing both the Viking Residential and Commercial Aggregation arms.

First launched in November 2023 by Nationwise Group as an asset finance aggregator, Viking has been working over the past year to expand into residential and commercial aggregation, too.

It last year hired James Angus – the former chief customer officer and general manager of sales APAC at Bluestone –as general manager of Viking Residential and Cath Ryan as the general manager of Viking Commercial Aggregation in preparation for its official launch, which is now expected in the new financial year.

Viking Aggregation has now welcomed Kirkpatrick to the team as managing director of the aggregation offering.

As managing director of Viking Aggregation, Kirkpatrick will lead the new aggregator’s vision to “deliver exceptional value to brokers across Australia and New Zealand” and become the “preferred partner for high-performing brokers”.

Kirkpatrick has extensive experience in the broker space, having been the general manager of Vow Aggregation (part of the Yellow Brick Road Group) and general manager of mortgage broking at St.George Banking Group.

He also co-founded Bula Outsourcing, a Fiji-based outsourcing provider, in 2022.

Kirkpatrick also currently serves as the deputy chairman of the Finance Brokers Association of Australasia (FBAA) and has held senior positions on the boards of global credit intelligence company Pepper Advantage and SME fintech Orbyt.

Noting the appointment, Nationwise CEO Gus Kininmont highlighted the new Viking Aggregation MD’s extensive experience in the banking and financial services industry across Australia and abroad.

Kininmont said: “We are thrilled to have Clive on board as our Managing Director. His deep industry knowledge and proven track record of driving financial performance and operational excellence will be invaluable as we continue to expand our services and strengthen our client relationships.

“Clive’s commitment to quality governance and professional standards positions Viking for continued success in the industry.”

Rob Ryan, Nationwise’s chief operating officer, said: “I have known Clive for many years in the third-party mortgage channel. His passion for our industry is palpable.

“Clive is known for his values-led approach to the industry and its people, representing broker and lenders alike in various forums and stakeholder meetings.

“His record of business success will ensure that Viking’s residential and commercial business will not only be successful but will drive the much-needed disruption for brokers and lenders alike in our industry.”

Commenting on his appointment, Kirkpatrick said: “I am enormously excited about what Viking Aggregation can bring to the market with some of the best people here to serve our brokers, an incredible tech stack that is probably one of the best I’ve seen and a strong multi-focused customer solution platform.

“I’m looking forward to being part of a pioneering aggregator in a growing market.”
