Prominent Sydney brokerage Smartmove Home Loans has announced the recruitment of long-term banking executive Darren Little to the newly-created position of general manager.

Little joins the north shore brokerage from his previous role as head of mortgage broking at St George.

Announcing Little’s appointment, Smartmove’s managing director David Brell said: “It’s an exciting time for Smartmove and we feel privileged to have Darren on board. We’ve worked closely with Darren for several years and have always found his approach and professionalism second to none.”

Commenting on the appointment, which began on Monday of this week, Little said his decision to make the move was due to Smartmove’s “dynamic, innovative business whose culture and business model I greatly admire”.

Established in 2003, Smartmove has won several awards for its achievements, including Brokerage of the Year at the Australian Mortgage Awards, while several of its brokers have been named in the top 100 in the country.

Evidence of the business’ success is the recent move to larger premises in Neutral Bay, according to Mr Brell. “This state of the art office space has the capacity to allow us to significantly expand and host an array of leading industry figures. We are building up for the strongest year in our business’ history,” he said.
