ING DIRECT has been voted the best bank in the country, while all of the majors failed to make the top 10.

New research conducted by ProductReview.com.au saw ING DIRECT named top lender in Australia due to iits transaction/debit account and savings account, high interest earnings, value for money and good customer service – the lynchpin for people’s banking experiences.

More than 3,500 Australians were asked to rank Australia’s lenders across a number of key categories, including best bank, home loan, credit card, savings accounts, transaction/debit accounts, personal loans and term deposits.

ProductReview.com.au Samuel Williamson said more than 100,000 Australians visit the site daily to search for real feedback and advice from everyday people on products, services and institutions such as banks and financial providers.

“Typically people are trending away from the big providers as they look for better deals and personalised service. This is clearly seen in our data and shows the value of peer reviews in people’s decision making process,” Mr Williamson said.

According to Mr Williamson, the big four all achieved a ‘mid to low’ score, averaging 2.6 out of five.
