Westpac suffers payment delays

Westpac has advised its customers that it is currently having difficulties processing payments to and from other banks.

In a public statement, the major said it had mobilised additional resources to restore payment services as soon as possible.

Customers have been told that they can continue to make payments throughout the day which will be processed, however there will be some delays.

“We sincerely apologise to our customers and will continue to regularly update customers on the progress of payments,” the statement read.

“Westpac customers will not incur any additional fees as a result of this delay. Other bank customers are encouraged to talk directly to their banks.”
