FST Media has marked a major new chapter in its growth, bringing together three significant milestones in a single day as it expands its commitment to Australia’s banking sector.
Part of the Momentum Markets group of companies, which includes The Adviser, FST Media yesterday delivered the ninth annual Future of Banking summit, launched the new banking news platform Banking Daily (www.bankingdaily.com.au), and hosted the inaugural Banking Innovation Awards – reinforcing its growing investment in the people, institutions, and ideas shaping the future of Australian banking.
The three milestones represent a significant step in the evolution of FST Media following its acquisition by Momentum Markets in late 2025 and demonstrate the group’s strategy of combining established industry relationships and respected event brands with new media, intelligence, and recognition platforms.
Founded in 2006, FST Media has built a strong reputation as a specialist financial services media and events business, connecting senior leaders across banking, technology, and government through industry news, conferences, and executive forums.
FST Media director William Magee said the investment reflects a long-term commitment to building a deeper and more influential platform for the Australian banking community.
“FST Media has an exceptional pedigree in financial services and has spent two decades bringing together many of the most important leaders, institutions and technology businesses shaping the sector,” Magee said.
“What we are doing now is building on that history and expanding the ways in which we serve that community. We want to be there every day through high-quality journalism and intelligence, throughout the year through our events and executive forums, and by recognising the institutions, teams and individuals who are driving genuine innovation across Australian banking.”
The Future of Banking, held in Sydney on Thursday (10 September), brought together senior banking executives, technology leaders, and innovators to explore the forces shaping the sector, including artificial intelligence, core banking transformation, payments modernisation, customer experience, fraud, and digital trust.
The long-running event was the first major FST Media summit delivered under Momentum Markets ownership and represents the continuation of an established industry franchise alongside significant investment in its future growth.
At the summit, FST Media also officially launched Banking Daily, a dedicated digital news platform for Australia’s banking sector.
Banking Daily will provide timely, detailed, and relevant coverage of the institutions, executives, technology, regulation, strategy, and innovation driving Australian banking, supported by the broader editorial and publishing capabilities within the Momentum group.
Magee said the launch was an important expansion of FST Media’s relationship with its audience.
“Banking is moving incredibly quickly. AI, technology transformation, payments, regulation, changing customer expectations and new competitive models are fundamentally changing the industry,” he said.
“Our ambition with Banking Daily is simple: to provide banking professionals with the news and intelligence they need to understand those changes as they happen. Also, keep them right across industry gossip!
“We want it to be fast and current, but also substantive. There is an enormous appetite for journalism that goes beyond the headline and properly interrogates what developments mean for banks, their people, their customers and the wider financial system.
“Through the combination of Banking Daily and FST Media, we have the opportunity to connect daily journalism with the deep industry relationships, conversations and expertise that come from bringing the sector together face-to-face.”
Completing the day, FST Media hosted the inaugural Banking Innovation Awards in Sydney on Thursday evening, a new national awards program recognising outstanding individuals, teams, and organisations across 11 categories spanning areas including retail banking, payments, security and fraud, digital transformation, and customer experience.
Magee said the creation of the awards reflected FST Media’s belief that innovation should be recognised alongside the issues and industry development that were being debated and reported.
“There is extraordinary work being undertaken inside Australian banks and across the technology ecosystem that supports them, but much of that innovation happens behind the scenes,” he said.
“The Banking Innovation Awards have been created to put a spotlight on those people and organisations actually delivering change – solving difficult problems, improving customer outcomes, strengthening the financial system and building what comes next.
“Bringing the Future of Banking Summit, the Banking Innovation Awards and Banking Daily together demonstrates exactly where we want to take FST Media. We want to inform the sector, connect it and celebrate its achievements.”
Momentum Markets acquired FST Media in late 2025, becoming custodian of a business that has an established presence across financial services, government, and technology.
Since the acquisition, the business has embarked on an expanded program of investment across media, events, industry intelligence, and awards, supported by the broader capabilities and distribution of the Momentum group.
Magee said FST Media would continue to build on its existing heritage while investing aggressively in new products and opportunities for its audiences and commercial partners.
“This is not about changing what has made FST successful. It is about giving that platform greater scale, capability and reach,” he said.
“We have deep relationships across banking and technology, an established events pedigree and, through Momentum, considerable expertise in specialist business journalism, research, audience development and events.
“This is an important milestone, but it is also the beginning of what we believe FST Media can become. Our intention is to build one of Australia’s most connected and authoritative ecosystems for banking, government and financial services – delivering the latest news, the most relevant industry conversations and the platforms that recognise and advance innovation across the sector.”
