Making news today, an elderly man with a walking stick was caught heckling NAB executives at yesterday's Senate inquiry into banking competition within Australia.

According to AAP, the man entered the hearing, held at NSW Parliament House, and shouted that variable interest rates were illegal and fraudulent.

"It's stealing," he is reported to have said.

"You cannot have variable interest rates ... it is the biggest fraud and these people are thieves."

The man was reportedly escorted from the room by staff.

SA senator Nick Xenophon had been quizzing NAB chief executive Cameron Clyne about small business loans just before the interjection.
