New categories for Australian Broking Awards announced

The 2017 Australian Broking Awards will include some new and improved categories to recognise the industry thought leaders and marketing campaigns of the year.

Now in its seventh year, the Australian Broking Awards — partnered by Commonwealth Bank — are the only industry awards focusing solely on the leading brokers, brokerages and aggregation groups in the Australian mortgage industry.

With the industry having grown and increased in professionalism, the awards reflect the evolution and maturation of the third-party distribution channel.

This year, the awards will include a brand new category: ‘Industry Thought Leader of the Year’.

This award recognises the individual within the Australian broking market that has shown a long-term passion and aptitude for improving the industry and is based on the period from 1 July 2015 – 30 June 2016.

The category aims to showcase those in the third-party channel who are able to clearly articulate the desired direction of the industry and draw upon best practice from other relevant industries and markets to champion the growth and development of the sector.

As well as the new thought leader category, the criteria for the marketing award has also been improved. Following broker demand to expand the criteria for ‘Consumer Marketing of the Year’ to include individuals, as well as broker groups, the award has changed this year to be ‘Marketing Campaign of the Year’.

The marketing award this year recognises the broker group or individual broker that has undertaken the best marketing campaign in Australia over 2016 (from the period 1 July 2015 – 30 June 2016).

Consideration will be placed on brokers’ ability to leverage a range of marketing mediums, from traditional print advertising to social media and how that integrated approach helped deliver a more effective campaign.

Submissions have been flooding in already for the 26 ABA categories, so ensure you get your submissions in before the closing date of Friday, 21 April.
