Top 10 highest yielding locations revealed

Resources hotspots dominate the list of towns delivering the highest yields for houses across Australia.

According to CoreLogic RP Data, Miles in southern Queensland led the way in the November data round-up with a rental yield of 9.8 per cent.

The town, which has a population of about 2,000, has a growing liquefied natural gas industry.

Meanwhile, Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, also offered returns of 9.8 per cent.

Another WA mining community, Kambalda East, placed third with 8.9 per cent.

The next six spots on the top 10 list also belonged to resources communities.

Queenstown in Tasmania and Broken Hill in NSW both had yields of 8.5 per cent.

They were followed by four more towns in WA: South Hedland with 8.4 per cent, Port Hedland with 8.0 per cent, Kambalda West with 8.0 per cent and Baynton with 8.0 per cent.

Cloncurry in Queensland rounded out the list with a yield of 7.9 per cent.
