Banks recognised for innovation

by Staff Reporter7 minute read

The banking sector is leading the way in innovation, with three major banks ranked in the top 15 in BRW’s most innovative companies list for 2013.

The list was compiled by Melbourne-based innovation consultancy, Inventium, led by Amantha Imber and supported by a team of judges from a variety of backgrounds.

Each entrant was required to present at least two innovations, which were judged by examining the problem being solved, the innovative solution, and its impact.

National Australia Bank was ranked 13th, while the Commonwealth Bank of Australia came in second and Westpac fourth.

Alexandra Holcomb, Westpac's group general manager for global transactional services, said, “Achieving fourth place in the BRW 50 most innovative companies in 2013 is extremely rewarding for us as we continue to work hard at finding innovations that make it easier for our customers to do business.

“At Westpac, we are committed to investing in and commercialising innovation for our customers to deliver faster and more flexible banking solutions that meet their needs,” added Ms Holcomb.
