The specialist mortgage lender has welcomed its first head of distribution to help grow its reach within the broker market.
Non-bank lender Interim Finance has appointed John Clifford to the newly created position of head of distribution.
The specialist first and second-mortgage lender welcomed Clifford – who was most recently the head of sales and partnerships at Peach Property and had previously been the head of broker at fintech lender Lumi – to the position earlier this month.
Commenting on the appointment, Interim Finance’s director Trent Littleford said: “It is a new role for the business, and we did not create it lightly.
“John is here to grow distribution, educate the market on what we do, and make sure that as we scale, our high-level service and reputation are maintained. Because as more deals land on our desk, brokers deserve someone who responds quickly, can be trusted, and gets it done.
“John brings deep experience across distribution and lending, and longstanding relationships throughout the aggregator network. He understands how brokers work because he has spent the last decade focused solely on their needs.”
Littleford added that, for brokers serving self-employed and SME clients, having a reliable second mortgage lender is essential for successfully securing deals that fall outside standard banking criteria.
“Executable certainty is the entire point of our product. It is what we have built our name on and it is the standard John is here to protect as we grow,” Littleford said.
Speaking of his new role, Clifford said: “Over the past five years there has been a global boom in private credit, and the proliferation of lenders in Australia means the average broker may find it difficult to quickly determine which best suit the needs of their clients.
“At Interim, I think we have a number of key differentiators: we don’t dabble in second mortgages; they are our raison d’etre; our highest risk-based pricing is lower than the lowest rate many of our peers charge; our pool of funds is stable and reputable, and after 18 years in operation we can happily stand over the most proven track record in the industry.
“When I first met Trent, it was clear that he is a man of experience and integrity, looking after an accomplished team of second mortgage specialists. All he needs now is an evangelist for his service.
“I leapt at the chance to join the side.”
