Rising unemployment will place further pressure on the RBA to cut rates further next month as the Australian economy shows more signs of slowdown.

September figures released yesterday revealed the jobless rate climbed to 4.3 per cent last month, from a surprise 4.1 per cent in August.

The ranks of unemployed rose by 21,700 in contrast with only 2,200 new jobs created.
