APRA chairman to stay put

Treasurer Wayne Swan announced to Parliament yesterday the reappointment of APRA chairman Dr John Laker and deputy chairman Ross Jones.

"Dr Laker and Mr Jones have proved highly effective leaders of APRA — particularly during recent global financial turbulence when the rigour of our top regulators is of vital importance," Mr Swan told Parliament.

The decision will see the pair head the prudential regulator for another five year term.
