Sydney brokerage Flint has begun expanding its presence across Australia, opening a new office in the Queensland capital.

Flint – the NSW-based brokerage brand headed up by brokers Christian Stevens and Redom Syed – has expanded into Queensland after opening an office in Brisbane.

The Brisbane office, led by former FPW Group director and senior mortgage broker James Green, opened last month and marks Flint’s latest expansion out of Sydney.

It launched with five brokers specialising in residential, investor, lifestyle, and commercial and infrastructure lending, alongside dedicated customer experience support.

Flint Brisbane currently comprises:

  • Green – director, senior mortgage broker and Brisbane office lead

  • Will Tucker – director and senior finance broker

  • Mitchell Donnelly – director and senior finance broker

  • Timothy Rough – finance broker

  • Diego Aguirre-Davies – finance broker

  • Margaret Glazebrook – senior customer experience officer.

The office is said to have a loan book of approximately $340 million, supported by a nine-person team across credit, processing, compliance, marketing, operations, and technology.

According to the new office, Flint Brisbane expects to hire three experienced brokers early this year, and further recruitment discussions are also said to be underway locally.

Speaking of the reasons to join Flint, Green said the move reflected both the evolution of the mortgage broking industry and the opportunity presented by the Brisbane market.

“Over the past seven years, FPW Group has grown into a business I’m incredibly proud of. But standing still isn’t an option in this industry. Mortgage broking is evolving quickly, and to keep delivering at a high level for clients, I knew I needed to evolve with it,” he said.

“The timing felt right to join Flint because we share the same view on where broking is heading – a smarter, more agile, technology-driven model that gives both brokers and clients a real edge. Being part of Flint allows me to scale faster, access deeper support, and help lead something genuinely new in the industry.”

Green said the merger combined FPW Group’s established client base and local experience with Flint’s infrastructure and operating platform.

“The vision was simple – to go further together than we ever could alone. FPW built strong foundations, but Flint brings the platform, infrastructure and momentum to take things to another level,” he said.

“The way Flint has reimagined the back end of broking, from speed of file movement to the digital experience, unlocks capacity and pace that’s hard to replicate independently. This isn’t about growth for growth’s sake. It’s about elevating what the broker experience can look like for both clients and brokers.”

The office is targeting further expansion as Brisbane experiences continued population growth, infrastructure investment, and increased housing demand ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games.

Green commented: “Brisbane is in the middle of a once-in-a-generation growth phase. With the Olympics on the horizon and significant investment reshaping the city, the opportunity here is enormous.

“Our long-term vision is to position Flint Brisbane as the brokerage built for what the city is becoming, not what it used to be. We want to be the trusted partner for people navigating growth, investment, relocation and major financial decisions in a rapidly changing market.”

Flint said the Queensland launch forms part of its broader national growth strategy, with the Brisbane office aiming to scale toward a $1 billion annual settlement run rate over the next two years as the group continues to build out its multistate footprint.

It recently opened a new office in Newcastle and is expected to launch one in Noosa, NSW, in due course.

Flint CEO Stevens commented that the expansion into Brisbane had been in the works for “more than six months” and was “a proud moment for Flint and an exciting next chapter” for the brand.
