Submissions open for Better Business Awards 2025

by Arabella Walton7 minute read

Nominations and submissions are now open for the 12th annual Better Business Awards, run in collaboration with principal partner NAB.

The Adviser is calling on Australia’s brokers, networks, innovators, and leaders in each state and territory to submit an entry or nominate a colleague or business by Thursday, 7 November 2024 to be in the running for the prestigious Better Business Awards 2025.

The Adviser’s state-based Better Business Awards will be held early next year across five capital cities to recognise the achievements of brokers and brokerages.

Run with support from principal partner National Australia Bank (NAB), the awards provide a platform for talented mortgage and finance professionals and businesses across Australia to gain recognition for their achievements over the past year.

There are 20 individual and group categories on offer with the option to submit an entry for one, or multiple, award categories.

Individual categories are on offer for residential and finance brokers, aggregator business development managers (BDMs), loan administrators, industry thought leaders, and mentors.

The highest-scoring individual winner will walk away with the coveted Broker of the Year award in each state.

Alongside this, franchise and non-franchise offices, new offices, and finance brokerages are invited to enter in the group categories and showcase their achievements.

Why enter?

Following over a decade of celebrating the leading lights of the mortgage and finance industry, this unparalleled awards program recognises notable results of trailblazers constantly excelling and pushing the sector forward.

Local presence and servicing clients in the entrant’s immediate catchment area with commitment and skill are key. The awards identify outstanding brokers who have achieved consistent growth and delivered exceptional results while serving their clients’ best interests.

With a range of categories to enter, the awards are open to all professionals and businesses operating in Australia across mortgage and finance broking. This model ensures all eligible sectors within the mortgage and finance industry – from brokers to loan administrators, lender BDMs, and aggregator BDMs – have the opportunity to shine.

Despite operating in a fiercely competitive market, Australia’s mortgage brokers have been writing residential home loans at record or near record-high levels in the recent past while finance brokers are consistently helping a growing number of SME clients access finance so they can grow their businesses.

The Better Business Awards program offers recognition for these significant achievements and elevates individuals and businesses above their competitors.

Being recognised as one of The Adviser’s best in business can propel the winners’ careers to new heights, while enhancing credibility for both professionals and businesses.

What happens next?

The Better Business Award operates using a peer-reviewed model, with the judging panel composed of senior leaders, business executives, entrepreneurs, and innovators who work closely with the broker channel to ensure your capabilities and passion are measured to the highest standard. The winners will be announced at the black-tie gala ceremonies across Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, and Melbourne next year, where members of the broking industry can network with leaders and peers while celebrating the achievements of their colleagues.

‘These awards are all about celebrating the best of the best’: Adam Brown, NAB

Speaking about NAB’s partnership with the Better Business Awards 2025, Adam Brown, NAB’s executive, broker distribution, said he looked forward to celebrating the individuals and businesses that are at the cutting edge of innovation, change, and quality relationships in an “incredibly dynamic industry.”

“These awards are all about celebrating the best of the best,” Brown said.

“Relationships have never been more important than they are in today’s ever-changing world, and the broking industry consistently excels in its support of Australian homeowners and investors. By rewarding success and recognising achievements, we energise the whole industry to keep striving to achieve great outcomes for customers.

“Our long-standing partnership with the Better Business Awards is a clear demonstration of how NAB is the bank behind the broker, and that brokers really are at the heart of everything we do.”
