US rates to hold, for now

3 minute read
The Adviser

The US Federal Reserve is unlikely to raise rates this week despite indications that economic growth may improve.

Growth forecasts for the US for 2008 have been revised upwards to 1.1 per cent by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), however concerns remain over the credit crisis and rising inflation.

Earlier this month the Fed indicated that rates may rise, although there is unlikely to be any upward movement before September.
