Better Business Awards

The best brokers, BDMs and administrators in Victoria have been honoured at The Adviser’s Better Business Awards in Melbourne.

The Better Business Awards, which honours the state’s best brokers, aggregator BDMs, lender BDMs, loan administrators and those running community engagement programs, was held last night (1 March) at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Following the Better Business Summit 2018, hosted in partnership with principal partner NAB, the awards saw brokers from across the state recognised for their hard work and dedication to delivering good consumer outcomes.

Josh Egan from Astute Melbourne City South/Gippsland was named Victoria’s Broker of the Year and Best Finance Broker in the state at last night’s awards ceremony.

Mark Davis from the Australian Lending & Investment Centre (ALIC), who wrote nearly 1,000 mortgages in 2017 and was crowned the country’s Broker of the Year at the Australian Broking Awards last year, was once again named Best Residential Broker.

Mr Davis has won the award for four years in a row.

The brokerage was also recognised for Best Innovator of the Year.

Loan Market brokers took home two awards last night. Sarah Thomson for Loan Market Geelong was named Best Regional Broker (with the office also being named Best Regional Office) while Bernard Desmond of Feedback Finance was named Rising Star.

Both brokers were commended by the judges for their exceptional customer service and dedication to achieving good consumer outcomes.

Loan Market Wyndham was also recognised with an award for Best Branded Office.

When it came to customer service, Shehan Wijayasinghe was named as the broker with the Best Customer Service, while My Mortgage Freedom took home the same award for the office category.

Edwena Dixon from Pinpoint Finance was honoured for her service to the industry through the Editor’s Choice award.

Ms Dixon was chosen for the award this year for her dedication to not only improving the financial literacy of her clients but also that of the wider community. The Adviser particularly congratulates Ms Dixon for ensuring that mortgage stress is reduced and for highlighting the invaluable service that brokers can provide by visiting schools and hosting local events.

The Best Newcomer award went to Vikram Kataria from Loan Studio.

BDMs from NAB, PLAN and Pepper Money were also honoured for their work.

The full list of Victoria’s winners is available online now.

Congratulations to all the winners!

Better Business Summit 2018

Now in its fifth consecutive year, the Better Business Awards forms part of the award-winning Better Business Summit.

The Better Business Summit first launched in 2013 as a state-based event to provide brokers with straight-talking, practical advice to help them grow and improve their businesses.

It was the first state-based awards program to recognise and celebrate the best in the industry in their local markets.

The Better Business Summit has won multiple awards and has grown exponentially over the years to become the industry’s leading event, and now welcomes more than 4,500 attendees every year.
