Better Business Summit prompts broker to develop CRM platform

by Emma Ryan11 minute read

Two brokers have praised The Adviser’s Better Business Summit for helping them realise the value of digital marketing.

Unique Financial Services’ Vishal Gupta and Rise High Financial Solutions director Marissa Schultz both attended the summit earlier this year and have since managed to implement some of the key takeaways into their businesses.

Mr Gupta said attending the event inspired his staff to create their very own CRM platform.

“I was not really a fan of digital marketing because I used to think that [in person] communication is better but after the summit we realised digital marketing is essential and therefore have gone on to generate our own CRM,” he said.

“We are in the final stages of building that in-house CRM and we have built up our website which will go live very shortly. That is purely because of the feedback from the summit.”

Meanwhile, Ms Schultz said attending the summit allowed her to see potential areas in the digital space which she could use to grow her business.

“I think the main one that resonated with me, which is still something we’re working on, is all the online stuff,” she said.

“There was a presentation about the digital side of things which is not my strong point and I [felt] as though it was something we [needed] to start working on more as we move forward so following the Better Business Summit we have investigated that a lot further, putting some plans in place to integrate that into the business.”

Ms Schulz added that she believes the summit is a great networking opportunity for brokers.

“I think every time you go to things like that, and especially the Better Business Summit, you always pick up some new ideas, some new ways of looking at things and you always get inspired to hear what other people are doing and how other people view things,” she said.

“Most brokers are self-employed, in a way, and it can be quite lonely and to have this day where you can go and get energised, motivated, inspired and have your mind opened up to new possibilities, I think is really important.”

Now in its third consecutive year, The Adviser’s Better Business Summit presents insights from some of Australia’s most established business people.

The premier event took out the Business Event of the Year category at this year’s Publish Awards (previously the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards) and was named a finalist in the respected Australian Magazine Awards’ Event of the Year 2015.

The Adviser’s Better Business Summit 2016 will be held in Brisbane on 18 February, Melbourne on 25 February, Sydney on 3 March, Adelaide on 11 March and Perth on 17 March.
