Mortgage brokers are being encouraged to support a new initiative aimed at increasing awareness of the industry.

National Finance Brokers Day will be launched in 2016 by Suncorp Bank business development manager Dino Pacella, with support from the FBAA.

Mr Pacella said the day will highlight the advantages of broking and improve consumer awareness.

“With the broking sector getting bigger each year, it is imperative we become a collective and publicly share our experiences and ways we can better engage with customers,” he said.

“We want to bring brokers together and bounce off each other with advice and feedback. Organising seminars and workshops would also be a major part of the day.”

FBAA chief executive Peter White has urged members of the wider broking community to get involved and support the national day.

“What a great way to get our message out there with the thrust being customer awareness. The more a customer knows about what we do and how we can help, the better,” he said.

“For this to succeed, we need the support of everyone in the industry. No one [company or individual] owns this day and it is up to us to make it work.”

As part of the National Finance Brokers Day, borrowers will be able to access a free financial literacy tutorial.

A date is yet to be allocated to the initiative.
