Mr White said Mr Corby had “a big smile and a big heart” and “created a big reputation” in Loan Market.

Mr Corby became a “regular top producer” after joining the group in 2001. He left in 2004 to become a BDM with the Commonwealth Bank, where third-party chief Kathy Cummings identified him as “one of her most talented executives”.

He returned to Loan Market in 2009, and the following year established himself as one of the group’s ‘elite’ writers, a position he held until his death.

“He was a true professional – passionate about his clients and the role he played in their lives,” Mr White said.

“And they loved him back, as evidenced by the huge client referral rate he had. He was a remarkable broker who ran one of the best businesses in our group.”

Mr White said Mr Corby also became known for his wonderful team spirit, whether offering advice or congratulating colleagues on their success.

“He made this a better group, and I will be forever proud that he chose to part of our business,” Mr White said.

“He worked hard but he also enjoyed having a beer at the end of the day... He loved telling jokes and often couldn't wait until the punchline before breaking out into his massive grin.”

Mr White also remembered Mr Corby as a devoted family man, who was dedicated to his wife, Sue Ann, and his two daughters, Lacey and Hayley.

Mrs Corby said she was shattered by the loss of the man she called her “Prince Charming”, in a statement reported by the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“He was an amazing father and loving husband”, as well as the “life of every party”, the statement said.
