Mortgage Choice quashes takeover rumour

Staff Reporter 1 minute read

Reports of an imminent Mortgage Choice takeover of the LJ Hooker real estate agency business from Suncorp have today been labeled inaccurate by the brokerage.

In a statement to the ASX, the company said: “in response to press reports, Mortgage Choice advises that it is not in negotiations with Suncorp.”

Mortgage Choice’s senior corporate affairs manager Kristy Sheppard told Mortgage Business that a potential deal with LJ Hooker real estate agency had never been on the cards.

“Buying the real estate agency business has never been on the table for us. We don’t know where these rumours started, all we know is they have spread like wild fire and we want to nip this in the bud,” Ms Sheppard said.
