Borrowers doing it easier: Fujitsu

Staff Reporter 1 minute read

The Fujitsu Mortgage Stress-O-Meter yesterday confirmed that mortgage stress is on the decline.

The meter recorded a 1.5 per cent drop from December 2008; 625,000 households are now experiencing some difficulty meeting mortgage repayments.

This compared to a high of 900,000 in August.

Falling interest rates and resultant lower borrower repayments are the obvious drivers behind the slide.

Fujitsu said that 164,500 households are still at risk of having to sell up or lose their homes however.
