US housing starts experience April recovery

Housing starts in the US rose more than expected during April to reach a seasonally-adjusted 1,032,000, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development reported on Friday.

While the figure was still 30.6 per cent below that of April 2007, it represented a significant 8.2 per cent rise from the revised March figure of 954,000.
