Mortgage activity improves in UK

Home finance approvals jumped by 19 per cent in the UK during February indicating that low interest rates and soft house prices are luring some Brits back to the market.

According to the Bank of England, 37,937 loans were approved in February, the highest level seen since May 2008.

Despite the improvement approvals remain 44 per cent lower than a year ago.
