AFG appoints 3 executive team members

by Adrian Suljanovic11 minute read

The aggregator has announced changes to its executive team as the company heads into the new financial year.

The Australian Finance Group (AFG) has appointed Lisa Bevan to the role of chief operating officer, AFG general counsel Michelle Palethorpe to the role of company secretary, and Sam McCready to the newly created role of chief customer experience and digital transformation officer.

According to AFG, the changes to its executive team are focused on the support and growth of its distribution network as the financial year draws to a close while leveraging acquisitions in order to deliver competition and choice to Australians looking for financial solutions.

Ms Bevan joined AFG’s founding directors as company secretary 25 years ago when the company was just starting up in Perth and enters her new role to deliver across the company’s strategic ambitions as it enters FY24.

AFG chief executive David Bailey said: “Lisa’s depth of knowledge across AFG’s operations and profit drivers is exceptional.

“Her understanding of our broker network and strong relationships across our business positions her as integral to our success as we consolidate our position as partner of choice to our broker and lending partners, embed our acquisitions, and maximise the opportunities across our value chain.”

Ms Palethorpe will retain her current role leading AFG’s legal team as she takes on the role of company secretary.

“Michelle has an excellent breadth of understanding of our commercial business as our legal lead, and as company secretary will apply her legal acumen in this essential governance role,” Mr Bailey said.

Mr McCready joins AFG from Racing & Wagering Western Australia. There, he was responsible for a transformation agenda across the technology division and the delivery of corporate strategy. His role with the aggregator will be leading the delivery of its products, services, and technology to AFG’s broker network and customers.

“I look forward to working with our executive team to continue to deliver significant and sustainable future growth for our brokers, our customers, our team, our lender partners, and our shareholders,” Mr Bailey concluded.

White label partnership with Brighten

AFG recently announced it has formed an alliance with Brighten Home Loans to create a new white label loan for AFG Home Loans.

The collaboration aims to provide more options for AFG brokers and their customers.

While the details of the loan product(s) are yet to be announced, the group expects to launch the new products to its broker network in the first quarter of FY24.
