The MFAA has announced the appointment of AFG executive director Malcolm Watkins to its board.

Mr Watkins has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, and is responsible for the aggregator’s technology development programs and national marketing operations.

MFAA chairman Tim Brown said the association is looking forward to adding Mr Watkins’ long-term industry involvement and impressive experience to its directorship.

“We believe that his input will provide additional depth to an already well-rounded board,” he said.

Mr Watkins said the MFAA plays an important role in an increasingly complex regulatory environment and is the advocate for the industry and its thousands of members working hard every day to meet the needs of their customers.

“Those members need a strong and informed representation,” he said.

“I am delighted to join the MFAA board and look forward to working with the board and management team as the MFAA positions itself as the voice of the industry.”

Mr Watkins will commence his new role in November.
