On the right path?

Over the past few months, we’ve been doing a deep dive into the major broker survey – the Third-Party Lending Report – and unveiling exactly what brokers like (and don’t like) from their lending partners. In July, we delved into what brokers think of the big four banks, and in August, it was the turn of the mutual banks to come under the spotlight. This month, it’s the turn of the non-major banks – and boy, it’s clear to see that the non-major banks are helping more and more brokers find the right path for their clients.

In our cover story this month (page 16), we’re taking a look at the institutions brokers are flocking to and why – along with some of the areas for improvement that the non-major banks can be focusing on to win even more fans.

Speaking of the non-major banks, we partnered up with Alex. Bank this month for our feature on personal lending (page 26), which takes a look at what’s driving the growing demand for this product set. Make sure you read the personal lending feature to find out how you can be delighting more clients with this solution – and ensure you’ve got a steady stream of business coming in through the door while mortgage demand is slowing.

Given the slowdown in home loan demand, Ben Squires has analysed what has been going on with the investor market. Ever since the federal budget changes were announced, investor appetite has quickly shifted – but where is it going? Turn to page 32 to find out more about how the market is responding – and the innovations coming out during this time of change. As we welcome in the new season, the spring property report is also a must-read, as the peak selling season will likely look quite different this year to most. Check out the analysis on page 41 to find out why.

We also tackle one of the big issues in the industry at the moment – summarising what has been happening with the ongoing mortgage fraud probe and what needs to be done to combat fraud. Make sure you stay up-to-date with the major mortgage probe on page 38.

Don’t forget to check out the most recent broker profiles from our podcast guests! On page 12, you can read the Elite Broker profile, which shines a spotlight on Fabio De Castro from Simplify Finance – while the New Broker profile (page 10) is with one of the (many) former BOQ franchisees who have recently become brokers: Matt Glennon from MoneyQuest Clayfield.
