Real estate agents make lucrative partners

Brokers establishing referral partnerships with real estate agents are starting to see dividends.

Speaking to The Adviser, CENTURY 21 Home Loans' chief executive James Green said that at least two of his brokers enjoyed a record month of June in lodgements and settlements.

Mr Green said Peter Ellis and Nicole Cannon had both achieved incredible success after forming referral relationships with estate agents.

“Peter stepped into a big role when he joined CENTURY 21, but that has ultimately ended well for him as he is now on track to achieve a year of record settlements,” he said.

“In addition, Pink Finance’s Nicole Cannon achieved a record month of lodgements in June, proving that her new referral relationship set-up is really working.”

Mr Green said professional relationships between real estate agents and mortgage brokers made sense as the two professions are entirely complimentary.

“Agents do a great job in satisfying their clients’ needs up until exchange. Brokers then have the ability to step in and take the clients from exchange to settlement. The relationship works because the two professions can offer a complete end-to-end customer service, and at the end of the day, good customer service is the most important thing.”

Mr Green’s comments were reinforced by a recent survey, conducted by The Adviser, of elite business writers, who agreed that real estate agents make the second best referral partners after accountants.

According to the survey, 76 per cent of elite business writers have a referral partnership in place with a real estate agent.

Moreover, 24.1 per cent of respondents said they made the best referral partners.
