virtual business development program

Connective has announced the launch of a virtual education and development program for its broker members, in partnership with a business school.

Connective has partnered with Melbourne Business School to deliver a seven-module learning and development program focused on transformation, leadership and strategy.

The virtual program, titled “Strategic Management in an Uncertain World”, includes sessions on understanding the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, disruptive strategy for mortgage brokers, marketing during COVID-19, applying strategic foresight for an uncertain future, and resilient leadership.

The program will be presented by senior faculty members of Melbourne Business School, who bring research and corporate experience to the sessions.

The modules will include real-world cases and examples, and will focus on strategy principles that mortgage brokers can apply to their business.

Speaking to The Adviser about the program last month, Connective executive director Mark Haron commented: “We’ve engaged with Melbourne Business School to deliver 90-minute courses through the rest of this year. The first one will be on resilience, and we’re bringing in a professor of psychology who’s going to be putting together a program that will allow brokers to understand resilience themselves and help other people on how to be resilient.

“We’re a long way off being out the woods from this COVID-19 virus... The real economic impact won’t really come home to roost for a few more months yet,” Mr Haron continued.

“People will find themselves really facing into that hardship piece in three, six and nine months’ time. That’s when still going to need a lot of assistance, in September and October, when people come up to the end of their six-month repayment deferment programs and they still don’t have an income. So, we’ve got to start thinking right into the future on that and prepare brokers for that now, rather than later.”

Connective has said that the program will provide brokers with frameworks to “make hard decisions in a fast-paced and unpredictable business landscape”.

“Brokers will learn about forces that are disrupting the channel, how to find opportunity in uncertainty, how to lead through change and innovation strategies to deliver sustainable success,” it said.

Connective members can register for the modules and receive 21 CPD points. They can also access the post-module resources and watch recordings of the live session, and join facilitated post-module conversations with the professors and peers to share ideas.
