Social media challenge tests brokers

by Reporter10 minute read

A new social media challenge has been launched to showcase brokers' business prowess by calling on them to either share a real client story or find the most suitable loan for a new client.

Launched by National Finance Brokers Day, an industry organisation-led day that aims to officially recognise and celebrate finance brokers in Australia, the #NFBDbetterloanchallenge aims to raise awareness of the advantages of using a broker.

The challenge asks those on social media, for example, prospective clients, friends, work colleagues etc, to use the #NFBDbetterloanchallenge hashtag and tag a finance broker asking them to either share a real story detailing how they helped find the most suitable loan for a client (withholding real names, for privacy), or calling on them to find them most suitable loan (i.e. home loan, business loan, car loan etc).

Dino Pacella, the founder of National Finance Brokers Day, explained that the tagged brokers should then write a short post/film a short video on how they found the client the most suitable loan detailing what kind of loan it was, who the loan was with, what the interest rates were, what the savings were, and any other details outlining why the loan was suitable. The post will also be shared via the NFBD Facebook page.

The broker should then tag three more brokers/consumers and use the #NFBDbetterloanchallenge in their post, to keep the challenge going.

Mr Pacella told The Adviser: “Continuing on from the mission of NFBD, which is to help raise the awareness of the advantages consumers can receive when using a finance broker and understanding the full service proposition that these finance professionals bring to the market place, I wanted to challenge brokers and consumers alike to get a better loan.

“This challenge will further help promote the advantages that consumers can receive when doing business with a broker…

“I am confident that all brokers could take on this challenge and succeed, as I am fully aware of the work that they do for their clients and [that they are] always placing them at the centre of everything they do.”

Mr Pacella concluded: “Anyone can challenge any broker to take part in this, via any social media platform by simply using the hashtag, [and] the more challenges that are raised, the higher the profile of our amazing industry will grow.”
