Aussie gives FHBs $25,000 deposit

by Emma Ryan8 minute read

An Aussie Home Loans mortgage broker has helped secure a couple’s first home loan as part of a national competition held by the group.

Perth-based broker Barry Stribling awarded Mosman Park couple, Alex Stewart and Kerry Fontana, $25,000 after the pair attended an appointment at the office recently.

The couple plans to spend the prize money on securing a loan to buy a two-bedroom townhouse in Perth.

“I am delighted for Alex and Kerry as they are a great young couple in their thirties coming into the property market at a good time, when prices have eased and just before the First Home Owners Grant expired,” Mr Stribling said.

“They are putting our prize to good use in building up their deposit and will enjoy the experience of getting off the rental merry go round.”

Mr Stribling has been with Aussie for four years and has assisted many first home buyers to secure their first property by taking advantage of historic low interest rates by refinancing to more cost-effective loans.

“We are in a red hot mortgage market and lenders are fighting for business, so there’s little reason why anyone with a standard loan scenario should be paying a mortgage that has an interest rate starting with a five,” he said.

This comes after a recent report found that the number of first home buyers who experience mortgage stress has climbed drastically over the last six months.
