‘Digital can help brokers grow their business’: Westpac

by Huntley Mitchell10 minute read

Westpac has urged brokers to get on board the digital marketing train to ensure they remain relevant to their customers.

Tony MacRae, Westpac’s general manager of broker distribution, said it is crucial for brokers to market themselves using different digital platforms.

“We’re living in an age where news gets broken in 140 characters or less via Twitter or other platforms, and customers are expecting more and more to be able to get information through digital means – brokers need to be able to converse that way,” he said.

Westpac will partner The Adviser’s Digital Marketing Boot Camp 2015, which will take place in Brisbane on 1 July, Melbourne on 2 July and Sydney on 3 July.

The one-day, interactive event is designed to help brokers build and grow their business through a low-cost and targeted digital marketing strategy.

Mr MacRae said Westpac believes that whatever can be digitalised will be digitalised, and supporting the Digital Marketing Boot Camp was a natural fit.

“There’s a lot of mystery and mystic around digital and social media. This boot camp should give brokers the opportunity to break it down and show that it’s not as daunting as some may perceive,” he said.

“Digital can absolutely help brokers grow their business, and that’s the most important thing for all of us.

“We’re really looking forward to partnering with The Adviser for the Digital Marketing Boot Camp. I’m very much a digital player and look forward to hearing from some great guest speakers and learning along with the brokers who are attending.”
