by Staff reporter10 minute read

Mortgage aggregator AFG has announced the appointment of a new general manager for its broking arm, AFG Home Loans.

Chris Slater will head up the role after working as the division’s head of sales and operations.

Mr Slater has been with AFG for eight years, starting out as a national account manager before becoming the state manager for NSW and the ACT.

His new position as general manager will see Mr Slater focus on strategic development and the management of AFG’s national sales team.

“AFG has given me some tremendous opportunities over the past eight years, and to continue to be able to help drive the strategy for the AFG Home Loans division is something I’m very much looking forward to,” Mr Slater said.

AFG managing director Brett McKeon said Mr Slater’s past experiences with the group and intricate knowledge of the business were two key drivers of the appointment.

“Chris knows our business, knows our members and knows what needs to be done to deliver the results this part of the company is capable of,” he said.

“He has played a central role in the development of our strategy to further expand and develop our core product line for AFG Home Loans, and I look forward to working with Chris to realise the potential of this line of our business.”

Mr Slater will relocate from Sydney to be based in AFG’s Perth head office this week.
